The Minstry of Education is Seeking Information.
The Ministry of Education has updated the curriculum for kindergarten to grade 9. Parents are now being asked to share their thoughts on report cards and all types of progress reporting. All of the input that is submitted will be summarized into an Engagement Summary Report, which will be considered by the Ministry and school district leaders as they develop potential models for improved reports.
There are two ways parents can participate:
- By completing an online parent feedback form; or
- By attending one of the 11 community open houses that are happening in locations around the province.
We would really appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback opportunity with parents in your school. Thank you.
On behalf of Kim Abbott, Executive Director, Sector Resourcing and Service Delivery Branch:
The Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Education, Linda Larson, is asking for feedback from British Columbians and interested stakeholders on rural school funding and educational practices, as well as the role educational programs and schools play in rural communities across the province. The goal is to create a Rural Education Strategy by the summer of 2017.
We would really appreciate your participation as well as the participation of parents and students in your communities. An online discussion is open until January 9, 2017 at 4pm, please join the conversation at: http://engage.gov.bc.ca/ruraleducation/.

If you are, say, moving from Trafalgar Middle School to LVR a transfer form needs to be in place by the end of March or you loose your seat at LVR.
